The tradition of Scotland in its finest form

The Scottish producer and the largest exporter of food products in the United Kingdom, among which are traditional Scottish buttery shortbread cookies, is called Walkers Shortbread
, and its headquarters is located in a village called Aberlour, near the Spey River in northeastern Scotland.

The company Walkers Shortbread
started its story as a small bakery in the village of Torphins in the Aberdeenshire region of Scotland, opened by Joseph Walker in 1989 when he was 21 years old. With relentless refining of the recipe out of a desire to make the best traditional Scottish cookie, shortbread
, it uses the highest quality ingredients, without additives, artificial colors and preservatives, and with ingredients such as pure creamy butter in its products began to attract attention and soon the demand for his traditional Scottish cookies was so great that he had to move to Arbelour, and get a horse and carriage to be able to deliver his products to a growing number of people. After his sons took over the company they continued with the tradition of using the highest quality pure butter in accordance with the father's recipe regardless of the fact that other producers were using much cheaper but less quality margarine. By the 1960s, Walkers had over 100 employees and 14 delivery vans. Local shops began to fill their shelves with Walkers cookies and soon the Walker family invested in machines that would satisfy the huge demand for their products.

The popularity of Walkers cookies is best seen in the fact that in the 1970s Walkers was exporting its traditional Scottish buttered cookie, or shortbread
to as many as 60 countries around the world. Although it all started with a cookie with pure butter, Walkers introduced another future classic in 1975, Chocolate Chip Shortbread
, shortbread cookies with pieces of chocolate that will conquer the market, and over time various types of cakes, biscuits and cookies were introduced that won Walkers awards such as Food from Britain Innovation Award
, as many as 3 times the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement
, and numerous gold medals for product excellence.

Today, Walkers employs over 4,000 people and produces their cookies in 6 factories throughout Scotland, and as the greatest tribute and recognition for the quality and use of natural ingredients in their products, Walkers received in 2002 the Royal Warrant of Appointment
and became the official supplier of oatmeal cookies to the Queen of the United Kingdom and her family, and in 2017 the traditional Scottish buttery shortbread cookie also joined this elite company.

In 2018, the price of butter on the market increased by as much as 50%, but Walkers remained faithful to their recipe using top-quality, creamy butter, and Joseph Walker's guarantee that only the highest quality and natural ingredients are used in his products still stands on every package of Walkers cookies which is decorated with the traditional and recognizable tartan pattern after the model of the Scottish kilt.

Just because we believe in the quality of Walkers products, we have enabled you to taste the tradition of Scotland in its finest form without having to travel anywhere. From the traditional Scottish butter cookie and the oatmeal cookie served at the royal court itself, to the modern version enriched with various types of nuts and fruits such as almonds, pecans, hazelnuts, cranberries, clementines or ginger, we have given everyone the opportunity to find the type, shape and taste of cookie that suits them. In addition to the legendary cookies, there are also various cakes, pies and traditional UK biscuits, and for people who are gluten intolerant we have provided the option to enjoy a gluten-free version of the legendary Walkers
Chocolate Chip Shortbread
cookie.

The Scottish kilt, or a knee-length skirt worn by men as the main element of traditional Scottish dress may be the most famous Scottish tradition, but the most delicious tradition are certainly Walkers shortbread cookies with top quality, creamy butter in which the royal family enjoys daily.

Eat royally, taste the Walkers.
